Finding our way through the wilderness

Jeremiah 29:11
New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Day Eighteen
Disappointment
This life that we live in can have its ups and downs. Life is like a treasure when everything is going well, however it can be unbearable when we are down. Unfortunately because the way that we are wired (the way our brains work) we tend to dwell on the disappointing times and we forget about the good times. However God wants us to know that He will give us joy in spite of our disappointments.
Disappointment is defined as a feeling of being let down. Most of the time we our disappointed in ourselves and the way we acted or reacted to a situation. Things that we could have done and things that we should have done haunt us throughout our days. As Christian we are not immune to this but rather disappointment can become a daily feeling for someone who is trying hard to change their ways and walk in the footsteps of Christ.

Sometimes you can be disappointment in friends and/or family members when they let you down. Disappointment can cause a rift between lifelong friends and it can cause division between loving family members.

So the question becomes how do when deal with disappointment? How do we soften its blow when it undoubtedly comes? God’s Word holds all of our answers.

Our scripture from above reads, “For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you not to harm you, plans to give you hope and future.”

So we know just by reading this text that God has great things in store for us. This is something to hold onto whenever we become disappointed in ourselves. We know that through our faults, trials, and tribulations God is right there with us carrying us through. Though we may disappoint, our God always comes through. So when we put our total trust in His abilities and not our own, disappointment loses its power to negatively affect us.
Isaiah 40: 31 says those that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk but not faint. What this verse means it that if we wait or place our hope in the Lord we will receive renewed strength. Meaning that in time of disappointment if we place all our hope in the Lord we will get strength to make it through. We focus on the positive which is God, rather than the negative which is of the enemy.

When dealing with people that have disappointed us, we should try to think like our Lord and Savior. What if He had turned His back on us every time that we done something wrong? We would be in serious trouble. Thank goodness that we serve a loving and forgiving God and we should be the same way. Jesus ask how can we asked our Lord for forgives when we cannot forgive our brothers and sisters. When we read Jesus’ question we see just how hypocritical we can be. We need to realize that just like us others make mistakes too. Don’t let the enemy use anything to destroy our families and friendships.

Disappointment is another emotion that the enemy uses to deter and even to stop our journey. However we now know that there is no disappointment whenever we are with God, because only He can turn our disappointment into triumph!

Please join us tomorrow as we continue our journey. Until then God Bless
